The Empire Mall in Sioux Falls, SD has often been referred to as the states largest tourist attraction. I am sure that if this isn’t true, it is really close.
The Empire Mall opened its doors in 1975 it is now the largest one story mall in the world! The Mall has a total of 1,341,202 sq ft. There are over 180 stores and seems to be adding more stores every year. The Empire Mall has a total 4 anchor stores; Younkers, Macy’s, Sears, and JC Penney. In late 2008 they will ad a Coach store and a Aerie store.
There is actually a lot more than shopping going on at the Empire Mall. There are 19 places to eat at, anything from Burger King to Applebee’s. There is a kids play area year round which is well kept, clean, and often updated or changed.
The Holidays bring quite a bit of activity to the Mall. For Halloween you can bring your kids for a trick-or-treat adventure, and during Christmas you can take pictures with Santa Claus.
