Sioux Falls Jazz and Blues Society
The Sioux Falls Jazz and Blues Society has a mission to instill an appreciation for Jazz and Blues within the people of Sioux Falls, and they are doing a great job. The event they are most know for is the Sioux Falls Jazz Fest, which attracts over 90,000 people each year.
Jazz Fest is an event that they sponsor and organize. It is held in Sioux Falls at the Yankton Trail Soccer Fields and is an annual event. Admission to the event is free, they are able to do this because of their non-profit status and income from sponsorships, donations, and concessions.
The Sioux Falls Jazz and Blues Society is a non-profit organization that takes donations from sponsors and individuals to fund its activities and public awareness advertisements.
The Society does a whole lot more than put on the Jazz Fest however. They organize a Jazz Concert Series which is held at the Orpheum Theater in Sioux Falls, and also aid local and regional musicians to get spots a smaller local venues such as downtown restaurants and lounges.
The Jazz and Blues Society also has an educational outreach program designed to educated people of all ages in Sioux Falls about Jazz, Blues, and music in general. This project is called the Jazz Diversity Project. With this they work with the Sioux Falls Public School District and are able to visit class rooms and sable to arrange artists appearances to peek with students about their artwork and music.
