My Motivation:
I have for quite sometime enjoyed dining out at many of the unique restaurants in Sioux Falls. Sioux Falls has so many choices that it really can be difficult sometimes to choose a place. Maybe it’s easier to jump in your car and drive down a main street until you see a place that looks interesting.
I haven’t really seen complete well done reviews of restaurants in Sioux Falls however. The Argus Leader reviewers seem very amateur in their knowledge of the restaurant industry and miss the mark completely. Other than that you get quick slap-shot reviews of visitor on blog like websites.
I would like to get very much more detailed, unbiased, and actually offer constructive criticism. I am not looking out to down an establishment. For the most part, I would like more to see the restaurant flourish than to fail.
I understand very much how demanding working in a restaurant can be and that mistakes will be made every day. I understand that there is always an issue with something. Whether it be issues with staff members, food providers, beverage distributors, computer issues, advertising and promotion problems, and the list goes on and on. I am no stranger to 80 and 100 hour work weeks.
So when I eat out I like to enjoy my time and if something is amiss just brush it off and not let it ruin my experience. If can offer a review about a restaurant that helps them do a better job and get some feedback that is actually of value, great.
My Qualifications:
I got my first restaurant job when I was 14, washing dishes. During the next 6 years I had the opportunity to work a cook in 7 different restaurants. A couple of them I was hired temporarily to help with the opening and design the menu. I went on to attend culinary school which I did for 2 years. Short of completion and moved back to Sioux Falls to earn my Bachelors Degree in Business Administration and Accounting.
During those 4 years of Undergrad I worked in call centers and never imagined I would get back into the restaurant industry. By chance I applied to a restaurant as a manager and to my surprise I was favored more to work the front of the house, as a service manager. For the past 5 years I have been doing just that. I have managed the front of the house for 3 different restaurants since and enjoy it immensely.
